Questions, answered.
The honest answers to what people actually ask about the Barbados Magic Lounge.
How close is it, and will I be involved?
Very close, and possibly. The theatre has 30 seats. Even the back row is close enough to watch Hans's hands; the front rows are close enough that you might find a card in your pocket that wasn't there before. If you want a moment on stage guaranteed, you can add Guaranteed Stage Participation for $40 from any seat. If you'd rather just watch, sit a few rows back and enjoy it.
How much are tickets?
Back row is $50 with no booking fee. General admission is $53. Front two rows (VIP) are $63. You can add Guaranteed Stage Participation for $40 from any seat. Prices are in USD; you can pay cash in BBD at the venue.
I've seen magic shows before. Is this different?
Depends what you've seen. If it was a big Vegas production with a cast of twelve and someone being sawn in half, then yes, this is different: smaller, funnier, closer. If it was a close-up set in a hotel bar, this is that, but with fifteen years of craft behind it and a proper theatre built for it.
Is it actually funny?
Yes. Hans spent years as a comedy MC as well as a magician. This isn't a serious evening of mysterious atmosphere. There will be laughing. Sometimes at Hans, sometimes at you.
What if I've already seen the show?
Hans writes a completely new production every season. If you saw it last year, this is a different night.
Is it suitable for children?
It's built for adults. Mild language, and some of the magic leans on ideas younger children haven't met yet. We recommend ages 10 and up, seated next to an adult. You know your child best.
Where are you, and how do I find you?
Top floor, above Castaways Restaurant in St Lawrence Gap, Christ Church. Fourth floor, staircase only. There's no sign shouting at you from the street. Tell the Castaways hostess you're here for the magic show and they'll point you up.
Is there step-free access?
The theatre is on the 4th floor by staircase only, and there's no lift. If you have mobility concerns, contact us before booking and we'll do what we can: post@barbadosmagiclounge.com or +1 (246) 243-3122.
What if I'm running late?
The show starts at 8pm sharp and we close the doors 10 minutes before. We don't hold the start for latecomers; it wouldn't be fair on the rest of the room. If you think you'll be late, get in touch and we'll tell you if there's anything we can do.
Can I get a refund?
All sales are final. If something genuinely unexpected comes up, reply to your booking email as soon as you can and we'll do our best to resell your seat. No guarantees, but we try.
Do I need to dress up?
No dress code. Most people make a bit of an effort because it feels like that kind of evening. Wear whatever you're comfortable in.
Where do I park?
The Castaways car park is about 50 metres from the building, and it's free.
Can I bring a drink in?
Yes. The Castaways bar is open downstairs before the show (last orders 7:50) and you're welcome to bring your drink up to the theatre.
Can I have dinner at Castaways too?
Yes, and we'd recommend it. Castaways has oceanfront tables over St Lawrence Bay. Reserve a table before or after and tell them you're coming to the show.
When is the next season?
We're dark for the summer. The sixth season opens this December, and the list hears the dates first, with the only early-bird price we give. Join the list →
